“Rookwood for Mottahedeh” trays

Plaster models for Rookwood/ Mottahedeh trays

Rookwood Pottery Co. makes these trays for Mottahedeh, inc.  I created these pieces based on concepts by Wendy Kvalheim, president of Mottahedeh.  I sculpted plaster models of the rectangular trays in three sizes, all with pinecone relief decoration. These models were then used by Rookwood to generate RAM dies for hydraulic pressing of the pieces. I think Rookwood did a great job of developing the glazing and decoration.
