Greetings from Zanesville, OH
1930's-40's postcard from Zanesville, OH
From the late 19th century through much of the 20th century, The Ohio valley region was host to many potteries now prized by collectors, such as Roseville, McCoy, Weller, Hall, Hull, Shawnee, Homer-Laughlin, Crooksville, and others. Some produced dinnerware, while others produced decorative ceramics and factory-production "art pottery".
The caption on the back of the postcard says:
"We are visiting ZANESVILLE POTTERY STORES. Located 10 miles East of Zanesville on US Routes 22 and 40. One of the Greatest Pottery Centers in the World. Displays of all Leading Manufacturers are Shown here which include all Types of Pottery and Dinnerware. Tourists from all over the World visit this Display."
I wish I could time-travel and browse this store.
