Haeger Potteries
I have made the master models for many pieces of Haeger's decorative ware- over 100 different original shapes.
Haeger Potteries of Dundee, IL was founded in 1852 as a brickyard. After the Chicago fire of 1871, they made the bricks to rebuild the city. Over the course of the early 20th century, Haeger moved into making mass-produced "art ware", especially in the 1930's- 1950's, when designer Royal Hickman established the "Royal Haeger" Brand. (Perhaps the most famous piece was the black panther, introduced in 1941 (which we remember as gracing Archie Bunker's TV set).
In the 1980's, the company had an active program of working with freelance designers, to bring out several new lines of decorative accessories every year. They also produced vases and containers for the floral market. I interpreted their designers' drawings to create master models for over 100 Haeger shapes as well as models for contract production for other brands such as Pfaltzgraf and Restoration Hardware. I'm always pleased to work with factories that produce in the US.
"Thank you for your excellent designs. We appreciate your talent and you never let us down."
